A message from Mrs Day

I can’t believe that we are at the end of our Spring Term!  This half term has been a short one but what a lot we have packed into it!

Our “Spring into School” campaign has been very successful and the children have absolutely loved the attendance battles!  I am pleased to say that over the half term, our attendance has risen by 0.5% which now takes us well above the national average - a fantastic achievement!

The children have all completed their assessments and I am so proud of the progress that they have all made.  They approached their assessments with a positive mindset and really showed the progress they have made!  Next term will be a busy term with SATs, phonics screening and our times tables check but we are certain that they will continue to shine!

We have really enjoyed all of our community and family learning events this half term too!  Our first ever Community Day was a huge success and really showed what a wonderful community we have.  Our children have enjoyed Road Safety workshops, Bikeability, an Ancient Egyptian workshop, World Book Day, World of Work week (including a day of work at Vets 4 Pets!) and an Anglo Saxon workshop.

Our children have also had great success in the GoIt competition, Poetry Festivel and Angel Square in Manchester, Girls football and Gymanstics to name but a few!  We are so proud of how well our children represent Clarice Cliff and we look forward to providing even more exciting opportunities.

Your support as parents is always very much appreciated and attendance at parens evening was fantastic.  We now look forward to a busy but exciting summer term with more success and fun times ahead.

We hope that you have a lovely Easter break and will see you all on Monday 13th April ready to spring into Summer!

Walk to school with the Easter Bunny

What a fantastic turn out for our walk to school.

We will be working alongside Simona from Travel Smart to promote active and safe travel.

Over the coming months, we will be working towards Modeshift STARS Education accreditation by promoting safe, active and sustainable travel. From encouraging walking, cycling and scooting to school, to raising awareness about road safety and looking after our environment, we hope you will support us on the way.

During our community day, some of you may have had the opportunity to meet Simona Lawton.
She works for Travel Smart UK and is working in close partnership with our school to promote active and safe travel.

Simona has shared this WALK ZONE MAP which can be used to plan safe and active journeys to and from school.
You could join the growing number of students, from Coop Academy Clarice Cliff, who are choosing to walk, cycle, scoot or use public transport to get to school.
A large copy of the map is available to view in reception to show how far 5 and 10 minutes walk is from our school gates. Pop by to see whether you live within the walk zones, or just nearby!

Walking to school is beneficial because:
• It keeps us all fit, healthy and happy
• It helps us practise road safety skills
• It’s better for the environment and helps keep our air clean
• It helps keep the roads around school free from traffic which is safer for us all!
• It’s fun to walk and talk
• Best of all it's FREE!

If you live inside the zones, please walk or cycle to school. If you live outside the zones and have to drive, please try to park outside of the zones and walk the last part of the journey with everyone else.
Our map will help you find your route to school.

Co-op Academy Clarice Cliff
What a legendary day we have had in Year 6 today! We officially traded the classroom for Camp Green Lake as we spent the day diving deep into the world of Louis Sachar's Holes. From the courtroom to the desert, our students lived the story from start to finish. We kicked things off in the courtroom! Our young lawyers and witnesses took part in a mock trial to decide Stanley's fate. Was it a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time, or is the Yelnats curse real? The debate was fierce! In our writing session, we put on our sales hats. We practiced our persuasive writing by trying to convince "lucky" visitors to spend their vacation at Camp Green Lake. (Surprisingly, "building character" and "digging holes" were big selling points!) Move over, Yellow-Spotted Lizards! Inspired by the deadly desert fauna, students designed their own original creatures. We saw some truly terrifying (and some oddly cute) reptiles with unique defense mechanisms and vivid markings Things heated up on the field with three Holes-themed challenges: Water Relay: A race to keep the canteen full. Lizard Tag: Avoiding the "bite" at all costs! Digging the Hole: A test of speed and teamwork. We wrapped up the day by fueling up on some iconic camp snacks. On the menu: "Sploosh" (The secret 100-year-old nectar) Katherine's Famous Tinned Peaches Sam's Onions (Luckily, no one turned into a lizard!) It was a day filled with creativity, teamwork, andthankfullyno actual rattlesnakes. A huge well done to all our campers!
