End of Year Newsletter 24
A Message from Mrs Day
Well what a busy and successful year we have had at Coop Academy Clarice Cliff. We have had so many achievements over the year and we are so proud of all of the children.
Here are some things to be proud of:
-
Great attendance across the whole school and a big improvement from the previous year.
-
Great end of year results in Early Years, phonics, Key Stage 1, Y4 Times Tables Checks and Year 6 SATs. Some really good improvements from the previous year.
-
Great developments in the outdoor space making the school a fun and happy place to be.
-
Excellent sporting achievements across the school.
-
A wide range of experiences and trips for all pupils.
We have achieved so much as a team and we look forward to September for an even more successful year.
We will be sad to say goodbye to our lovely Year 6s as they move to high school. They have been a brilliant year group and have so much to be proud of. We wish them every success for the future.
We hope that you all have a lovely summer and keep safe over the six weeks holiday. When we return in September, we will be continuing to focus on good attendance and we would expect to see every child in school on the first day of Wednesday 4th September at 8.50 a.m.
Miss Hudson has shared the government changes to attendance for September and our aim is to work with all families to make sure that good attendance is a high priority for everyone. This has a direct result on attainment - every day really does count.
Thank you for all of your support over the year. It has been lovely to welcome so many families into the academy and we look forward to sharing with you our timetable of events for next year.
Enjoy lots of quality family time and we look forward to seeing you refreshed in September.

Sadly we say goodbye to Mrs Byard-Ward at the end of the week. She has worked across a number of year groups and been a wonderful member of the team. Thank you for all of your hard work.
Miss Knussell has been working across Year 3 and 4 and she will also be leaving us at the end of the week. We wish them both every success for the future.
Mrs Quigley will also be leaving us at the end of the term as she has a post in another school. We wish her all the best for the future.
Mrs Rushton who was working in Year 6 is also leaving us at the end of the year. She has worked at the school for a number of years as a teaching assistant across a number of year groups. She will be taking early retirement due to some health issues. We wish her a very happy retirement and hope that she will come back to visit us.
Goodbye to Year 6
It has been a busy few weeks in Year 6 as the children are preparing for the next stage of their educational journey. At the beginning of July, some of the year group made the short trip to Stanley Head where they enjoyed a vast array of activities including canoeing, climbing and high ropes. Whilst on the trip, the behaviour was exemplary, and the children should all be proud of themselves.
On returning from the trip, the whole year group took part in a World of work week organised with several different companies and employers. The children got to visit Tesco for some behind the scenes information, got to apply for jobs and be interviewed for these and each got to design their own product for a Dragon's Den style challenge. We are pleased to say that four of our children got chosen as second place, winning £300 worth of Waterstones vouchers for the school!
As we have entered the final week, things have not slowed down! There is a great deal of excitement about our annual Prom that is taking place on the evening of the 18th July and our Leavers' Assembly on the 19th July.
We are going to be incredibly sad to see our Year Sixes leave at the end of the year but we know that they are going to go on to achieve great things at their high schools- good luck everyone!
Attendance Update
A BIG thank you to all the parents/carers who have supported us this year in making sure that their child comes to school at least 96% of the time and that they are on time each and every day. You are supporting your child in making sure they don’t miss out on important learning experiences throughout the year.
We are pleased to say that our attendance has risen to 93.58%. This is an increase of 1% compared to last year.
Can we please remind you that no holidays can be applied for within term time and any that are will not be authorised and a holiday fine referral will be submitted.
Please be aware of the government's changes to the educational fines which will be implemented in September 2024. For more information please follow the link below -
Once again, thank you for all your support over the last 12 months and we will look forward to seeing you all in September and improving our attendance even further.
For any help with attendance and punctuality, please contact a member of the Attendance Team.
Year 6 World of Work Week.
On Monday 8 th July - Friday 12th July, Year 6 took part in the Co-op Academies first ever Primary
World of Work Week, also known as Careers Week. The children took part in a range of activities,
met volunteers from a range of employers and further explored their options for when they leave
school.
On day one of Careers week, Year 6 learnt about the different options they will have ahead of them
when they leave Year 11 in a few years time. The children learnt about apprenticeships, T Levels,
work and study. They then thought about their own future aspirations and researched about a
suitable future career that might suit their strengths and values.
On day 2, the children took part in Enterprise day! They were set the challenge to work in teams to
create a new sweet product for Co-op that had sustainable packaging. The children decided on key
roles in each group and worked hard to develop their product. After lunch, they had to present
their product to ‘Dragons’ in the hope they would invest in their idea.
On day 3, the children took part in a workplace visit. They walked to their local Tesco supermarket
to spend the morning learning about how the store operated. They were shown around the areas
behind the scenes, such as the warehouses and staffroom, as well as what it is like to work at Tesco
as an employee. We also looked around all areas of the store and spoke to employees in the grocery,
pharmacy, mobile phone and fruit & veg departments.
The children explored how to write an effective letter of application to either be a Teaching
Assistant in school, or a member of the Senior Leadership Team! Year 6 learnt how to ‘sell
themselves’ in a job interview and practised these skills. In the afternoon, every child had a 10-
minute interview with some local/national businesses and governors. They were all really impressed
with the maturity and positive attitude displayed by the Year 6.
Festival Day
The whole school took part in a brilliant Festival Day last week. Even though it wasn't the festival day we originally had planned due to the rain, we still managed to have a great day. The children absolutely loved using the inflatables and having tattoos and hair tinsel.
We also managed to raise £960! This will go into our School Fund pot ready for our next special event for the Children.
Nut Free from September
From September, we will be a nut free school.
Please do not send your child anything that contains nuts for example:
- Nutella/ chocholate spreads
- Chocolate bars containing nuts
- Marzipan
- Seeded breads
- peanut butter

This is due to a serious nut allergy which could be life-threatening.
Thank you for your support.
Polite reminder.

Please can we remind you that there are no dogs (except guide dogs) permitted on the school site, even if they are being carried.
Bikes & Scooters
Bikes and scooters should not be ridden on site at any time by Children or visitors. This is to ensure the safety of everyone on the school premises.
