Easter Newsletter 24

Message from Mrs Day

Well, it has been a very busy (but short) term in the Spring.  However, we have been blown away by the children and how hard they have been working.  We are so proud of the writing they have been producing in their English and Curriculum books.  Great presentation and really entertaining writing.  The children and staff have been so proud showing their books to visitors to the Academy.

We have had a number of trips this term which the children have enjoyed.  As always, they have shown brilliant behaviour and had so many stories to tell.  We have had trips to Stafford Castle, Cannock Chase as well as events such as the Spelling Bee at Angel Square in Manchester.  Our Year 3 and 4 have also completed their Road Safety assessments this term.  They were very sensible when they were completing this and are excellent role models to everyone.  There will be much more to come in the summer term.

We have been really pleased with the response to our Family Learning events this term too.  It has been lovely to welcome you into school to spend quality time with your children.  Our Careers Fair was also highly successful too and really inspired the children when thinking about their futures!

We have continued to work really hard on our attendance this term.  Thank you so much for your support with this.  Good attendance leads to good outcomes and with so much going on in the academy, every single second counts.  From completing our assessments this term, it really shows the difference that good attendance makes.  We have our attendance raffle coming up soon and some new incentives for the summer term so watch this space.

Thank you for all of your support this term.  It has been a busy one with a few changes but the children are as ever making us feel very proud to be part of Coop Academy Clarice Cliff.

We hope that you have a lovely Easter break and look forward to a busy but exciting summer term.

Year 6 SATs

Year Six are busy preparing themselves for the SATs which take place the week commencing 13th May. We are incredibly proud of the hard work and resilience that they are showing to these preparations.

Please remember that the children are invited to school from 8am on the morning of each of the tests to enjoy breakfast with their friends and teachers-there is no cost to parents for this.

If you have any questions about this, then please do not hesitate to contact Mrs.Booth.

Staffing Update

As the term comes to an end, we have a few staffing updates.

First of all we have two retirements.  Mrs Crawford and Mrs Hepworth will both be retiring from lunchtimes at the end of this term.  Both wonderful ladies have worked at the school since it opened and before that they were based at Grafton Infants School.  They have shown complete dedication to our children throughout their service and will be very much missed.  We wish them all the best for the future.

Following Mr Lewis leaving in the Autumn Term, we have been busy recruiting a class teacher for Year 3 O’Keeffe.  We are pleased to announce that Miss Gregory will be joining us for the Summer Term to ensure the children have consistency for the rest of the year.  Miss Gregory has already taught the class several times this term and has been working across the school.  She is a welcome addition to the team.  Mrs Brough will continue to support in the class.

Thank you to Mrs Byard-Ward for her hard work and commitment to Year 3 O’Keeffe.  Mrs Byard-Ward will now be taking on a different role, working in Y6 for one and a half days and she will also be teaching Y4 Monet on Mondays.

Mrs Snape will now be teaching Y4 Monet for four days a week (Tuesday - Friday) instead of three.

Careers Fair

Mrs Ashiq did a fantastic job in arranging our annual careers fair. The Children in KS2 really enjoyed finding out about different careers. There was a brilliant range of jobs from surgeons, musicians, dentists to skateboarders, tattooists and engineers.

Hopefully, this has inspired the Children to dream big and think about their future careers.

Longton Pig Walk

We are really excited about taking part in the upcoming pig walk through Longton town centre. We have had the pleasure of Urban Wilderness coming to School over the last few weeks to deliver workshops with the children who are taking part in the Parade. We have been making our own costumes and learning how to walk in the parade.

It would be great to see lots of familiar faces watching the parade on Sunday 21st April.

From 1st April we will no longer be using the Teacher2Parents (Eduspot) texting service to send and receive messages.  Instead, we will be using Arbor as our main communication system.  Arbor also lets you view the information we hold and make any changes to things like contact details and dietary requirements.  We will also be using Arbor for parents' evening booking, permissions for trips and evens and eventually for payments.

It's really important that every parent / carer creates an account so that we can stay in touch and keep you up to date.

You will have recently been asked to provide an email address so that you can create an account with Arbor, if you have already done this, thank you.  If you haven't please provide your email as soon as possible so that we can get you started.

Easter Bonnet Parades

Nursery and Reception had a brilliant Easter Bonnet parades. There were so many amazing hat designs and the children were soo eggcited to show them off.

We hope our parents and carers enjoyed coming to watch. We are so proud of how well they did.
