Year 6 Drama Workshop

A Day of Drama and Design: Year 6 Visit Clonter Theatre

Our Year 6 pupils recently traded the classroom for the spotlight during an immersive drama workshop hosted by the Clonter Theatre in Congleton. It was a day filled with creativity, history, and a behind-the-scenes look at the world of professional performing arts.

The morning began with an exploration of William Shakespeare. The children delved into the themes and characters of his most famous plays, learning how stories written hundreds of years ago still resonate today.

Following this, the students moved from the script to the stage floor. Working in small collaborative groups, they became set designers. Tasked with bringing a scene to life, they used their imagination to create intricate set designs, considering how lighting, props, and space can change the mood of a performance.

The afternoon brought a special digital treat. We were joined virtually by Naomi, a professional singer and performer. Together, the class watched a captivating production of Puck’s Adventure, which showcased the magic of musical theatre and storytelling.

The day concluded with an insightful Q&A session. Having just seen her perform on screen, the children were eager to ask Naomi questions about the performance and her career

It was a fantastic opportunity for our pupils and allowed them to see what a role in the theatre entails.
