We’re proud to see our pupils’ learning recognised by Ofsted

We’re delighted to share the outcome of our recent November Ofsted inspection.

You can read the full report here.

It recognises Clarice Cliff as a safe, welcoming and inclusive school, where children feel supported, valued and ready to learn.

Our pupils told inspectors they feel safe and cared for at school. A wonderful comment in the report describes us as: “One big family made up of pupils, parents and carers, staff and the wider community.”

Inspectors highlighted our ambitious curriculum and the way learning is carefully planned to help pupils build their knowledge over time. They noted that teachers make thoughtful decisions about what to teach and when, so pupils understand new ideas and remember what they’ve learned.

Our pupils told inspectors that they enjoy coming to school and feel confident in their learning. Clear routines and positive relationships help create a calm and focused environment, where pupils are ready to learn and keen to do well.

Ofsted also praised our leadership. They recognised how leaders support staff through effective training, mentoring and coaching. This investment in our staff helps make sure teaching is consistently strong across our school.

We’re proud of our work with families to remove barriers to attendance, helping children feel that they belong and want to come to school every day.

“Leaders have created a deeply inclusive culture where pupils’ needs are swiftly and accurately identified through well-embedded systems.”

Parents and Carers were described as highly supportive of the school. And one parent shared:

“Every single person who makes the school what it is works hard to meet the needs of every child who is in attendance.”

Inspectors also recognised our approach to personal development and wellbeing. They noted that Clarice Cliff has: “A highly effective personal development programme” and that pupils: “Enjoy attending school and describe it as a happy place.”

Dr Chris Tomlinson, CEO of Co-op Academies Trust, said:

“This report reflects what matters most to us as a Trust – putting children first, creating safe and inclusive schools, and supporting staff to do their best for every child. I’m incredibly proud of the team at Clarice Cliff for building such a strong culture of care, belonging and high expectations. The focus on safeguarding, inclusion and positive relationships is making a real difference to children’s lives.”

Emma Day, Headteacher, said:

“We are incredibly proud of this report because it recognises what we see every day at Clarice Cliff; pupils who are happy, confident and thriving both academically and socially. This outcome reflects the dedication, care and teamwork of our staff, the support of our families, and the enthusiasm of our pupils.

At the heart of our school is a deep belief that every child belongs, is valued and can succeed. We will continue to build on this strong foundation so that Clarice Cliff remains a place where children feel safe, included and inspired to do their very best
