A Message from Mrs Day.

Well what a fantastic end to the year it really has been.  This year has flown but we have so much to celebrate!

Firstly we are so proud of every single child for all of their achievements.  Our statutory tests show a significant improvement in all areas.  We have performed above national standards in Early Years, Phonics, Key Stage 2 reading, Key Stage 2 writing and Key Stage 2 combined.  This is the best set of results that we have ever had and we are over the moon with all of the hard work and dedication that the children have shown.  Fantastic!

Our attendance has continued to be strong throughout the year.  We are above national for our overall percentage which is a huge achievement.  Our children are enjoying coming into school and the impact shows in the fantastic set of end of year data we have had.

We have also had so many sporting successes to celebrate.  Our children have participated in a wide range of activities over the year but particularly in the summer term.  This has included gymnastics, football and athletics.  It is clear to see that we have so many talented athletes at Clarice Cliff and we are proud of every single one of our pupils who have taken part.  This was topped off by achieving the School Games Gold Award which is an incredible achievement.

Our Sunshine Cafe has been officially opened in the last few weeks.  The children are really enjoying a different lunchtime experience where they are trying new foods, chatting to their friends, listening to some lovely music and having a very relaxed lunchtime.  The staff have worked really hard to transform the space and we will share with you more development in September.

Sadly we say goodbye to our lovely Year 6 children at the end of this term.  They are now all ready for high school and have left a lasting impression on the school.  They are a fantastic cohort and we have no doubt that they will achieve so much more in the future!  Keep reaching for the stars Year 6 and please keep in touch.

I hope that you all have a fantastic summer.  I can’t thank you enough for all of the support for the school.  It truly has been a wonderful year and there is so much more to come next year.  Enjoy the break and we will see you all on September 3rd.

Events.

We held our very first Clarice Cliff Olympics Day which was a huge success.  Every single child earned a medal and all children took part and enjoyed themselves.  Even the staff took part with the best range of costumes that I have ever seen!  It was a true example of our wonderful school community.

Our first Cultural Diversity day was also amazing!  Our children really enjoyed finding out more about each other as well as taking part in some dancing, cookery and music workshops.  And who could forget our Festival Day which was a reward for all of the hard work over the year?  Everyone was smiling for the whole day and we had such a lot of fun.

We have had several visits from our ACC members (previously known as governors) over the year.  They have thoroughly enjoyed being part of our school community and taken part in lots of different activities.  We have also continued to hold lots of lovely parent workshops and events and I have been so pleased with how well attended they have been.  There will be lots more next year!

Staffing Update.

Mrs Barlow retires at the end of this term.  She has worked at Clarice Cliff since it opened and before that at Queen’s Primary.  She is very well loved by the children and has made such a difference over the years.  She has shown such dedication to our school and we would really like to thank her for everything that she has done.  We wish her all the best for a long and happy retirement.

Miss Roper starts her maternity leave at the end of this term.  I have no doubt that she will be popping back in when baby is born!  We wish her all the best for her maternity leave and we will see her soon.

Miss Hoq also joins us as a teacher in Year 4.  She has already been working in the school and is a popular and friendly member of staff.  We are sure that she will settle in very well!

Throwback to Festival Day. What a fantastic day children and staff had, playing on inflatables, dancing and singing in the silent disco and having hair tinsel and tattoos. A brilliant way to celebrate an amazing term. Thank you to Bee Active for organising another unforgeable day. We can't wait for the next one!
